Yes, the magnetic base will hold to any ferrous metallic surface in any orientation.

Does this light come with other mounting options besides the magnetic base?

Yes, each of the mounting base options shares the same mating part and fastener hole spacing. In fact, the magnetic base, c-clamp, and weighted base mounting options are all compatible with the direct mount base mounting option. 

A customer could buy one product that has a direct mount, along with the other three mounting base accessories, to be prepared for any mounting situation.
