About Us
Engineering Solutions to Last Generations
From our early days at an automotive service station in North Minneapolis to our growth into a global supplier of flex arms and lighting, one thing has remained consistent: a focus on building reliable products and long-term working relationships.
For nearly 75 years, Moffatt Products has designed and manufactured flex arms, mounting solutions, and task lighting used across a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. While the products have evolved, our approach has remained grounded in careful engineering, practical problem-solving, and a commitment to doing things the right way over the long term.
Our customers depend on products that hold their position, withstand repeated use, and perform consistently over time. Since many customer applications required higher-quality components, we’ve pushed the boundaries of manufacturing products like our flex arms and flexible-mounted lamps to make them the best they can be and to solve complex engineering problems.
In many cases, that requires going beyond minimum requirements in both design and manufacturing.
The Moffatt Approach
Good has never been good enough.
If you asked our founder, Dillon Moffatt, whether something was good enough, his answer was never “yes.” He would say: “What do you mean ‘good enough’? How good could it be?” His mindset and drive for perfection are deeply rooted in our company history, and continue to influence how we operate today.
Since 1954, customizing features to develop the best products and satisfy the customer has been our #1 goal.
Built to Perform in the Real World
Many of the products we manufacture are simple in concept but demanding in use, and they need to perform reliably in real-world conditions. That means making deliberate choices like using higher-quality gooseneck materials and designing additional capacity into lamp shades, heat sinks, and electrical connections. It also means paying close attention to the small details that affect long-term performance.
By partnering with customers in the design process, we’ve learned that durability results from consistent and coordinated decisions, and from assessing the product’s technical and commercial feasibility. That experience continues to define how we design and manufacture today.
We take a long-term view not only in product design, but in how we operate as a business. That means investing in the people and processes required to deliver consistent results and exceptional customer service.
Over 40 years ago, customers were requesting brighter work lights. Nobody in the industry was attempting to solve the issue by re-engineering switches to handle a higher heating rating. That is, until we successfully engineered and patented a heat sink that raised the heat rating from 75 to 100 watts. We set a new benchmark for incandescent task lighting and continue to work to advance the technology behind it.
How We Work with Our Customers
From early concept through production, we work closely with customers to understand the application before proposing a solution.
This process often includes reviewing functional samples, developing prototypes, and refining designs based on real-world feedback. The goal is not just to deliver a product, but to arrive at a solution that performs as intended over time.
Many of our projects involve custom or application-specific designs. Whether adapting an existing product or developing something new, we approach each situation with the same focus on practicality and reliability.
Relationships Built on Reliability
Our Midwest roots continue to shape how we approach our work. No matter how big or small the project, we pride ourselves on the respect and trust that we share with every customer. When you partner with us, we make you feel like a part of our family.
We value respectful and straightforward communication, practical problem-solving, and making work enjoyable in our relationships with customers, suppliers, and employees.
Over time, we’ve found that consistency, both in product performance and in how we work with people, is what builds trust.
Continuous Improvement
As we move forward, we continue to build on what we’ve learned—refining our products, improving our processes, and developing new solutions where they’re needed. The mission is not to pursue change for its own sake, but continuous improvement that supports the long-term success of the customers we serve.
“We designed an amazing camera, but what’s a camera if you can’t mount it to see what you need to see. Moffatt solved a lot of the issues that we ran into needing a flex arm to be versatile and fit different circumstances. The arm itself is as important as the actual technology that we are giving hospitals.”
