Medical environments demand precision, reliability, and ease of use. Doctors and nurses depend on equipment that adjusts smoothly and stays exactly where it is positioned. Many medical OEMs rely on Moffatt to develop mounting systems that integrate seamlessly with their devices.
CAPSA SlimCart
CAPSA Healthcare wanted a solution for its SlimCart that could securely hold a tablet while remaining easy to adjust for patient use during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moffatt engineers developed a custom system using a flexible, vinyl-covered arm and a tailored mounting plate.
Midmark - Ritter 253 LED Exam Light
Midmark wanted to make a better exam table for OB/GYNs, podiatrists, and dermatologists. These tables need to support an LED medical exam light. They needed three different flex arms, plus two additional aluminum tubes, to achieve the desired length for these operations without adding much weight. Length, quietness, and performance all needed to be precise for it to work.
We developed a five-foot-long flex arm that was sturdy, quiet, and lightweight.
Defense & Law Enforcement Applications
Devices used by law enforcement and military teams must perform in high-risk environments. Positioning systems must be strong, quiet, and resistant to harsh conditions.
Tactical Camera Tool
An engineering firm needed a durable, low-reflection mounting system for tactical camera use in military and law enforcement operations. Moffatt engineers developed a custom telescoping arm with strong construction, quiet operation, and non-reflective materials.
Industrial Equipment Applications
Industrial environments often involve dust, vibration, and heavy daily use. Equipment must withstand these conditions while remaining easy for operators to adjust.
Ammco Brake Lathe Task Light
Hennessy needed a more durable brake lathe light after earlier designs failed from frequent adjustments and exposure to dust. Moffatt redesigned the system with a reinforced structure, a highly adjustable lamp, and a protected switch.
Consumer Product Applications
Flexible positioning systems are not limited to industrial and medical equipment. Many consumer products benefit from adjustable mounting solutions.
SproutsIO System
SproutsIO needed a compact, adjustable lighting solution for its hydroponic growing system that matched a clean, modern design. Moffatt developed a dual-section flex arm that allowed precise positioning while meeting tight manufacturing requirements.

FAQs
What industries do your custom flex arm projects serve?
Moffatt supports a wide range of industries, including:
- Medical devices
- Defense and tactical equipment
- Industrial machinery
- Laboratory equipment
- Consumer products
Many of our customers are OEM manufacturers that need custom mounting solutions integrated directly into their devices.
Can you reverse engineer an obsolete or discontinued flex arm?
Yes. Our engineering team frequently helps customers replace discontinued components. We can analyze existing parts, develop compatible designs, and improve durability or functionality.
How long does it take to go from concept to prototype?
Many projects move from concept to prototype in one to two weeks. Timelines depend on the design's complexity and whether new components are required.
If parts are already available, prototypes can sometimes ship within a few days.
What happens if the first prototype doesn’t meet our requirements?
Iteration is a normal part of the engineering process. Our team works closely with customers to review testing results and refine the design until it meets the necessary specifications.
Because we use rapid prototyping, adjustments can often be implemented quickly.
