Safety Kleen wanted to design a large parts washer with a greater surface area and workload capacity than other parts washing machines.
The Challenge
They needed a custom solution to mount the work light to the larger machine, ensuring it would not sag or droop under the machine's intense vibrations during regular use.
The Solution
Moffatt designed a heavy-duty flex arm that balanced flexibility with reliable positioning. The flex arm’s design ensured it would not move out of position, even with the machine's increased vibrations, while still allowing the work light to be adjusted without repositioning the mount, eliminating the need for an additional light source.
The Outcome
Safety Kleen successfully launched its Model 34/44 part washer, giving customers access to a larger, higher-capacity machine while maintaining the same high-quality product they expect from every piece of machinery.

What safety factors should be considered when selecting a mount?
Consider clearance from pinch points, rotating components, hot surfaces, flames, and the presence of fluid mist or spray.
Also consider the ease of adjustment for the operator. Your mounting option should reduce the need for your operator to reach too far or in an unsafe way to adjust the arm.
Finally, make sure the mounting method is appropriate for the surface material of your use case. For example, magnet base mounts are designed for use with thicker steel, not thin sheet metal, where it might appear to be mounted but could be knocked over.
Are your industrial flex arms resistant to corrosion, heat, or chemicals?
Yes. The arm covering seals and protects the flex arm from corrosion; all metal parts are either sealed by other components or plated/painted to resist corrosion.
Lighting products are rated for normal ambient room temperature, not high-heat environments. All materials should be considered “industrial-grade” and withstand gradual buildup of industrial grit, grime, grease, cutting oils, and lubricants. We do not advise these products be exposed to harsh industrial chemicals such as acids or solvents.
